A 'nervous' client, having had a 'bad experience' with a previous contractor, demanded the highest possible quality from the HEB Construction Team on the installation of a significant new water main in a major New Zealand town.
As National Quality Manager, Graham worked very closely with the Client, their Engineering Consultants, the Construction Team and, vitally, the material suppliers to ensure that Quality was 'built-in' from the start. A '2nd-Party' Audit of the supplier's manufacturing operation was conducted and standards of documentation, with associated delivery timelines, were agreed between all parties.
Result? The Construction Team performed in an outstanding manner, the PM was able to focus on construction issues, the Consultant Engineer felt comfortable to reduce their level of over-sight and the Client was delighted with the finished job.
This Project went on to win the 'Quality' category in the HEB Construction 'Business Excellence Awards' in 2011.
